The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar.
But the man eventually found the family.
“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Chapman told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.
The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.
4 or 5 or 6 rounds may not be enough to stop one bad guy. If there are two or more guys, you might need a *lot* of rounds. Bans on high-capacity magazines are bans on women being able to defend themselves effectively. Via Woman hiding with kids shoots intruder | www.wsbtv.com.
Right, I told Donnie it’s a good thing the bad guy used his last bit of energy to try to escape
@pmjones Revolvers don’t use magazines
Here’s the argument: Since 5 hits did not stop one attacker, we all need 5A+M shells to protect us from A attackers (allowing for M misses). And we can continue this until every office worker needs entire belts of armor piercing shells to be Truly Safe. Wouldn’t a turret in every room be easier?
I’m going to disagree with this reasoning and say we should draw some arbitrary lines, even if it means a very unlucky few may run out of bullets in the face of waves of these super-human attackers.
Sounds like 6 rounds from the revolver was absolutely sufficient in this case. The family got away, the burglar was incapacitated to the extent he was pleading for his life, and thankfully no loss of life did occur.
I agree with your purpose, but I think this is a losing argument. I think the only way we can win is to help our detractors remember sneed old, regular people need to be armed with deadly weapons so as to keep the government from thinking twice about abusing our rights.
You like the First Amendment, Mr. Liberal? Well guess what: the government, with your politician of choice in charge, claims the legal right to lock you up indefinitely without charges. If that doesn’t make you want to own weapons and standard capacity magazines, you are an insufferable fool.
